Our Heritage

Our story begins in 1956, when P. Venkata Subbaiah Setty founded Sri Srinivasa Agarbathi Company in Chintamani, a small town near Bangalore. In 1957, his elder son P.V. Jayaramaiah Gupta moved the business to Bangalore and grew it into one of India's respected incense houses. By 1985, the family established Orkay Fragrance and introduced the iconic "Snake Brand" — a name now synonymous with authentic Indian incense.

 

Today, the third generation — P.J. Ravi Kumar and P.R. Shruthi — leads the company, while the fourth generation, Shivani and Nirmita, drives its evolution forward. Mystic Mantra is the newest chapter: a premium brand created specifically for discerning customers around the world who seek quality, purity, and meaning in every scent.

How Our Incense Is Made

We follow a traditional masala method — a centuries-old Indian technique where raw ingredients are blended into a fragrant paste and hand-rolled onto bamboo sticks. The sticks are then sun-dried naturally, locking in the aroma without heat or chemicals.

 

This process takes longer than machine production, but the result is a cleaner burn, a richer scent, and a product free from toxins.
